Linens are furnished (blankets, sheets, pillow cases, bath towels and washcloths). In addition to fireplaces, heating is provided by electric wall heaters.

In the mud room, you will find a washing machine, clothes dryer, ironing table and iron. There are also two additional refrigerators for food and beverage storage.

While at La Porte Rouge, Mrs. Touzard is at your disposal to make your stay as pleasant as possible. Upon your arrival, she will meet you in Carentan and guide you to the house. Taxis are also available from the train station and our mail address is 11 Route du Moulinet in Auvers.

You can also enjoy the great culinary experience of regional French cooking prepared with ingredients fresh off the farm. Mrs. Touzard is the superb cook of the village school! She will prepare meals in advance that you can then heat up at your convenience after returning from a long day of touring. In this case, you must notify us as early as possible to allow us to reserve Mrs Touzard and proved her with your selected menu 48 hours in advance. All expenses should be paid directly to her.

There is a telephone (02-33-71-94-34) that can receive incoming calls, but you are only able to make local calls. Should you need to make a long distance or international calls, your best bet is to use a calling card with a special international rate plan such as MCI's Everyday international (800/444-4444) and AT&T's One Rate Global Plus (800/355-9651). Just because you have a calling card with either company, however, doesn't mean you're automatically enrolled in the international plans. You have to sign up for these programs, which cost $3 to $4 a month, before your travel.

You can connect your laptop in La Porte Rouge, but you will need to purchase in Carentan (Mr. Lacolley, Electronics Store, Rue Holgate) an international telephone plug/convertor (cost just a few dollars), and an international plug convertor, then set up your computer to the local dial phone (for AOL, dial 0836061310; for any other carrier, bring this information with you).

During the summer months, we have a very quick turn over with guests departing in the morning and new guests arriving in the afternoon; therefore, we ask that you leave the house in the same condition as you found it.
